There are a lot of trees and power lines down throughout Orange County Orange Rural Fire Department, October 01 If you must go out, please use caution and avoid touching any trees if you cannot confirm that there are no power lines, cable lines or phone lines in contact with the tree. Also be aware of "step potential". Downed power lines can energize the ground around them for several feet in all directions. NC 86 South Structure Fire 30 September Member Jeff Cabe, October 01 At 2144 hours tonight, A-Shift responded to a report of a structure fire on NC Highway 86 South, just outside of Hillsborough. High winds, heavy rain and flooded streets impacted the response and made the fire suppression challenging. Riddle Avenue Structure Fire 30 September Member Jeff Cabe, September 30 At 1823 hours this afternoon, A-Shift responded to a report of a structure fire on Riddle Avenue in Hillsborough. Within four minutes, the first unit was on scene and reported a working structure fire. Engine 231's crew deployed attack lines and completed a primary search of the structure.
